She is a senior in highschool and she is a shopaholic and she needs to be saving for all of the things that have to be done like senior pictures, graduation annoucements, cap and gown, prom,etc. What do you recommend she do?How can a teen that loves to shop and get her nails and hair done ever save any money?

My best technique for saving money has always been to set aside a certain amount of money that I know I will spend and put the rest in the bank. Once it goes into the bank, I never like to touch it except for big important expenses. I try to forget it is there.





A good way to save on hair styling and manicures is to exchange those services with a friend.





Shopping is a great way to spend time, it's only buying that costs bunches (after the transportation). Some places on the internet buy shopping recommendations i.e. MyItThings.com so she could pass on her knowledge there.

Some people cannot learn to save money. My brother is one such person. My ex was another such person. Hope that she changes on her own, because I've seen my parents try everything to teach my brother to save his money and nothing has worked. Your daughter is probably destined to live beyond her means, paying the minimum payment on her credit card every month. Its not as bad as it sounds. At least she'll have nice stuff to enjoy.
Well, I would suggest buying less and by thw way, you can totally paint your nails yourself and give yourself a hair trim once in a while to save money. Thats what I always do.....but my mom pays for my hair cuts....an I'm guessing she'll be buying my prom, grad, and senior pic stuff. Why do your parents make you buy all the boring stuff?
I bet you're referring to yourself. I advise anyways, if it isn't you, to get a good paying job and put that money in the bank. To make sure she doesn't take all her money out, have her parents put their name on it and they have to be WITH her when taking any amount of money out.
Ok the girl can paint her own nails, lts not that hard to do. Also if she wants to get her hair done. Have her mom or her friends who knows how to do hair, work on her hair.





She can save a whole bunch of money, by not being lazy
Well, does she have a credit card.


If so then her parents need to Decline her card(s). And her parents might need to make a bank account for her(but she cant know the password)so she won't take out money . Also give her an Intervention(i heard that always helps)
get a job and a bank account so she can actually put her money in her bank account so she cant spend the money


make sure she doesnt know her password to her bank account (her parents can)


or else if she knows, she'll be spending that money in the bank account!!

Don't get a full manicure every week, try getting one every other week and a polish change every week. Limit yourself to only buying stuff that's on clearance. Find a cheaper hair salon
