Because that is what the majority of lower income people spend their money on and continue to do so for some reason. Look at the demographics and your answer is easy. I don't get the check cashing thing. Why don't you just go to a bank? Who doesn't have a bank account? Maybe if they reduced the liquor stores and put up more supermarkets that create more jobs and food supply, this question would not be asked. The lotto generates so much money that you can pretty much get that anywhere now and a lot of people are looking for that ';get rich quick'; instead of saving their money and earning it the hard way. They need a Moratorium on liquor stores and fast food and put in some more real businesses.Why is there so many nail shops and liquor lotto check cashing stores in Detroit?
